I was recently faced with an unexpected sabbatical of sorts. I had an operation (all is fine) where I had to cancel all meetings and travel for 3 months.
I am one of those people who thrive on traveling and doing five things at once. But you know what? The power of unexpected consequences worked. I have loved my contiguous months at home, a first in many years. The days fly by. I am reading a lot, watching old DVDs, and – most importantly – having time for quality conversations with friends and family like never before. I am starting to get out a bit and it is delightful discovering my own neighborhood again and being able to participate in some of the many fun activities that New York City offers during the holidays. These are some of the unexpected but welcome side benefits of a Reboot Break.
Happy Holidays to All,
