Co-Author Rita Foley is featured in the “Workzone” section of the Pittsburg Post-Gazette asserting that sabbaticals can offer incredible benefits to companies, even in a struggling economy.
For companies, a staffer’s temporary departure can be a chance to see how other employees do taking on new duties.
For the employee, the experience can be “a watershed event” during which they can step back and regenerate their batteries, then come back a more creative and enthusiastic staff member. And a bad economy is not a reason to forgo a sabbatical, or at least start planning for one a few years from now, Rita says. “Half the fun of a sabbatical is planning for it.”
